Gibbs Quay Boat Sales (GQBS) one of the largest Sports Boat and Cruiser dealerships in the country are the UK importers and distributers for some of the World's leading manufacturers. Brands represented from North America, include Cruisers Yachts and Cobalt Boats, from Italy, Finland and Poland we have Salpa, Grandezza and Atlantic Marine. From these manufacturers we draw upon 83 different models ranging from 16 to over 60 feet in length.
GQBS was originally established in 1906 as Kenneth M Gibbs & Company and located at Shepperton on the banks of the river Thames just outside London, the company has evolved over the years from boat builders into the thriving Motor and Sports Boat dealership it is today. Kenneth renowned for his motor launches and small yachts may have hung up his sea boats and put down his tools some time ago but the Idea's, Spirit and Values he had when he first opened the company live on today.
“ Boat's they're in our DNA”
Kenneth not only a boat builder but a talented yacht designer with a number of designs to his name both motor and sail. Two of his more famous small boat designs being the YM Senior and YM Junior (The YM standing for Yachting Monthly magazine which promoted the designs) These can be seen in the background on the Boat show stand in the 1950’s photograph. Thankfully a few of these graceful little yachts can still be found in the world today. The picture of the small yacht with sails set is YM 110 a Senior and at the helm is Kenneth himself ! This photo appeared in Yachting MONTHLY in the 1950’s.
